Rick had the opportunity to work for his mother and father, for many years, before he was even old enough to drive a truck. While his father drove the only truck that South Park Motor Line owned, he worked and mentored under several other transportation companies after school and during summer break to gain experience. In 1976, after returning from the military, he purchased South Park Motor Lines from his mother. Crediting his parents for all his skills and training, Rick continues the legacy of commitment, accountability, safety, and total quality into CAST Transportation daily. He is a past chairman of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association (1998-1999) and is a current board member.
Rich started in transportation with two degrees from the University of Colorado in 1986. He immediately started in LTL trucking. For 16 years, Rich worked for Leprino Foods. During his time at Leprino in Livermore, CA, he worked in international, domestic and rail shipments. He later transferred to the Leprino corporate office where he managed 250 trucks.
In 2002 he started at CAST, where he began overseeing operations, sales, maintenance, and concentrating on strategically growing the company in the direction of nuclear energy. He became the Project Manager for Waste isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in 2004.
He was the chairman of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association from 2004-2005 and is still active within its organization.
Rich is driven by daily challenges within a constant moving industry. His focus on growth and development of CAST, while managing major contracts with government and private industries, keeps his days full and busy.
